Morning Blues is a new feature I’m adding where I’ll review all of the blue posts from the previous day and post anything that seems interesting or worth passing on.  This inaugural edition will be posted in the afternoon because the idea just occurred to me, but in the future I’ll have it up first thing in the morning so you can see all the news that you might have missed the day before.

1. Plate DPS Classes Using Mail/Leather

Bornakk writes with a warning for plate classes who have been rolling on mail and leather items that have better stats for their class.  When Cataclysm rolls around the gear changes will switch the nice juicy plate-friendly Strength stats on these leather and mail items to Agility which is decidedly not a good thing for any class wearing plate.  So all of that gear that you’ve been running for?  It’ll be useless if you’re rolling on items outside of what Blizzard feels is your proper armor type.

I can see a lot of QQ erupting on the forums over this announcement, but I think that it’s going to be one of many instances of QQ as Blizzard makes some pretty sweeping changes to the game in advance of the even greater sweeping changes Cataclysm will bring.  Already they’ve been making subtle pushes towards trying to make players stick with their “correct” armor type by eliminating the ability to roll Need on items outside of your main proficiency.  This just seems like more of the same.

2. Arena Point Wipe

Blizzard wiped everyone’s arena points thinking that Arena Season 8 would start sooner than it did.  They’re refunding everyone their arena points so that they can still spend them now that Arena Season 8 is being delayed.  No official word yet on when Arena Season 8 is going to start, but I’m hoping for next week.

3. Invincible Rising

Arthas has a pretty flying pony.  Now you can have Arthas’ pretty flying pony too.  invincible will be a random drop for 25-man raiders.  No word yet on whether or not the flying horse also comes with an invincible sword and shield, mechanical owl, and Judi Bowker as part of the package.
