You know whats funny? I’ve seen Cloverfield. In the theater and DVD… but yet despite watching it twice (sober and drunk as all hell) I can’t actually say whether or not I really liked the movie.
At one point I rave about how beautiful it was. And the mysticism about the creature was sweet. But on the other hand I don’t know if I liked the pacing. And though the ending was realistic, I felt cheated of the Godzilla like endings where despite a nuclear blast or all hell breaking loose, the good guys escape with bare injuries. But definitly at the theater I felt so pulled into the movie. So that was worth it enough for me.
Though couldn’t the Ghostbusters just cross the streams and evaporate the monster into atoms?

I think that Cloverfield is one of the best giant monster movies ever, and definitely the best of the past decade or so. J.J. Abrams picked up the slack when Toho has kinda been stinking up the screen.
Crossing the streams would destroy the monster and the rest of the universe. The only reason it didn’t destroy the world in the first movie was that they crossed the streams into another dimension, destroying that universe and leaving our own untouched (except for blowing the top 20 stories off a midtown highrise).

Holy schnikies! I never thought of it like that. I was more under the thought process that the energy output of the crossed streams was so intense that it canceled out the energy output of the higher dimension which in turn collapsed the dimensional bridge. Which of course would cause any spiritual life forms that were from that universe to lose their connection to this realm and simply disipate. I only considered this due to the fact that energy is never really destroyed but merely changes form. The actual destruction of an entire universe could in theory cause a backlash since that energy has to go somewhere. And said backlash would then flood into nearby dimensions destroying them as well. So I had never considered your hypothesis on the crossed stream outcome.
Bravo good sir. Bravo.

I think the idea was that once that universe collapsed it basically severed the tie between the two worlds and you only saw the explosion. I tend to overthink that movie a bit.

More funny stick figures and retro words. YAY!
I’ve never seen Cloverfield, so can’t make any comments on that.

So you like the stick figures? I have a domain ready to go for a stick figure comic, I just haven’t had a chance to put together the site and wasn’t sure if it’d even be worth it in a flooded market.
June 14th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
I think if the story is good it doesn’t matter. I think there is a comic out there that is stick figures. But, I don’t know if anyone else would be interested. Like you said, the market is flooded with comics, so there may not be enough interest to make it worthwhile. Depending on what the idea is, you could use it here when you don’t have a lot of time.

Order of the stick and Anti-heroes are two of the best stick figure comics ever!

Stick figures are pretty awesome, it is true. But I want to get back to the fight with Batman-esque sound effects!

I’m hoping to be back next week, I’ve just run into some things that have taken time away from drawing (such as enjoying a break between summer sessions instead of spending it cooped up inside :-p).
June 26th, 2008 at 8:51 am
enjoying a break? WHAT? you should be locked up turning out comics! j/k. Enjoy those breaks awhile you can. No more rest for the working man!

<..> Is he coming back? It’s been almost a month with no comic. We should send a search party.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU, not meaning to be offensive but damn, it is like the 9th of July now, and this comic was published on the 13th of June, and twitter says you’ve been writing a research paper for the past month.
Thanks for being a creative genius in the world of webcomics though, sorry to anyone offended by this reply

I’m still quite alive. Right now I’m taking two summer grad courses, normally three months long, that have been condensed into five weeks. That means that most of my free time is spent reading books about the history of library science and writing them out or compiling cataloging lists. At this point all I can say is that the comic will be up when it is up. I’ve been sketching in my free time, when I have it, but producing a full comic takes a lot of time.
But I’ll make a deal with the readers still coming back. Classes are over in the first week of August. I’ll start working up a backlog of comics and try to relaunch at the beginning of August. I thought that I’d be fine updating through these classes, but they’ve proven to be a lot more time consuming than I’d originally thought. All I can ask is a bit of patience along with my sincerest apologies for the delay.

But… but… what about MY needs???
Just kidding–good luck with the summer courses!

We are Internet users. We complain about everything. and we REALLY REALLY hate when something entertaining and free stops being updated. Thats a cardinal sin against net users world wide!
If you start getting pain in weird spots….someone has made a voodoo doll of you. Seen it happen, look at Rich Burlow of OOTs. He complains all the time he is sick, but honestly I just think he is using that excuse as a crutch.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Im sorry for being shouty, i promise not to hunt you down and assassinate you, or create a voodoo doll of you and stab it repeatedly
July 10th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Well, now we know what’s going on. You said something about school, so I kinda figured that’s what was going on. But, maybe if something happens again that takes you away from your comic you could Twitter about it and/or post a comment saying it’ll be awhile.
So, you’re taking some library science classes. That’s cool.
As for the comics, do what you can, but don’t overextend yourself. We’ll live.

YOU ARE A CREATIVE GENIUS, I FREAKING LOVE YOUR COMIC, IT IS ONE OF THE F*****G BEST COMICS I READ (i read 19 comics everyday online)

Taking two condensed grad classes - brave man.
July 17th, 2008 at 9:42 am
This comic is dead, i presume.

@Telcontar
Considering Andrew says, “Classes are over in the first week of August. I’ll start working up a backlog of comics and try to relaunch at the beginning of August.” I don’t think it’s dead yet.
