What Does God Need With A Starship?
This episode of Stick Figure Theatre is brought to you by a five to six page paper that I’m researching and writing at the moment. I don’t want to leave you guys hanging even if I’m too mired in journal articles about the role of management in encouraging civic engagement in public and academic libraries. Sounds fun, right?
Like most of the comics of this sort, this is based almost entirely on an actual experience I had at Best Buy. The wife and I just bought an HD television and I’ve had to completely rewire the entertainment center as a result. Comcast said they would provide you with all the cables that you need to run an HD setup, but all that amounted to was a couple of old-fashioned coaxial cables.
It turns out that an HDMI cable is actually a lot better quality than coax. There is a complicated A/V buff explanation, but I just tried different cable types until I found one that looks the best. Of course at Best Buy they want you to buy the overpriced Monster cables for $120, but you can get the same thing for about $30 at any store that isn’t Best Buy.
Comcast still sucks, by the way, and their executive customer service is an even bigger joke than the regular customer service.

Oh noes! T3h St1ck f1gur3 c0m1c! You will rue this day… ruuuuue.
Research papers are a bitch. I’m in film school right now and we have all these research papers about various directors or styles of film to always have to deal with. It’s a real pain in the arse.
I tell ya, if you ever get a chance or if they have them around you, check out Microcenter. It’s way better for a/v supplies than Best Buy. And at least there the staff has to have an idea of what they are selling.

This just goes to show stick figures can be funny.
Have fun with the research paper.

I don’t think we have a Microcenter around here. When I lived closer to Indianapolis I’d just go to Fry’s once a month and pick up everything there, but that’s not an option now that it’s a 2 hour drive.
Mostly I just do my own research and buy stuff at Meijer these days. I’m not into paying a 200% markup for Monster cables.

Yeah, I’m about an hour and a half from Indianapolis. We have a Microcenter up 75 near the mason area. I do love Meijer though, me and the guys usually end up making trips there at 4 in the morning when we realize were out of Dew and need supplies for our lan parties.
