The Bartending Yoda

Well the past two comics have taken my original outline for the broader comic plot and shot it all to hell.  Obviously I’m not going to give away too much, but I’ll just say that certain relationships aren’t going in the direction I originally intended.  That’s one of the fun things about sitting down and creating something like this, though, sometimes you get taken in directions you never thought of.

And Shatner could totally kick Ed Norton’s ass.

Can’t say I have ever seen a relationship that ever went as planned though. My best friend and I once went back and forth from dating the same girl like four times. Of course once we figure out it was the same Susan (neither of us realizing at first due to freak coincedences that caused us to never be in the same room at the same time) we chucked her to the curb and called her various foul names. Not the most mature highlight of my life, but a damn funny one nonetheless.

And which Shatner are we talking about here? Classic Shatner from his early Trek days? Or flabby-travel commercial-post rocketman-who is totally not going to be in the new movie despite the fact that Leonard is-Shatner?

Cause if it is early Trek Shatner, than I totally agree Ed Norton is going down. Unless its Ed Norton from his Fight Club days, then it would be evenly matched.

I’d have to say Shatner from any time period, just because it’s Shatner. Early Shatner could get into fisticuffs and rough him up, and late period Shatner could just serenade him with Rocketman until Norton beat himself unconscious just to get away.

And I think that him not being in the movie has more to do with Kirk being dead than anything else. At least that’s the impression I get from interviews and whatnot. Of course it depends as well. Harve Bennett had an idea for a Trek prequel that used Kirk and Spock as a framing device, so if that’s what they’re doing here then they could easily just set the framing device before Kirk was killed. If they’re working the characters in some other way then it’d be more difficult without a massive retcon.

Then again Shatner could be in it as a surprise and everything leading up to the movie is just one big disinformation campaign. It wouldn’t be the first time they pulled that with a Trek film.

Touche. I have to admit that Generations was one of my favorite films. mostly because TNG was my favorite of the series, with Enterprise being the close second. I hadn’t really though of the whole ‘disinformation thing’ as a possible way to get folks interested in seeing it. It would be really slick to have Shattner pop in toward the end reminding Spock of some little detail he missed in the flashback story or something. You have my mind reeling good sir. Hats off to you.
