A Very Good Reason
The third panel on this one took a little while to draw. I drew concept art of all the characters before I started the comic, but that was back in November. It took a little practice to get used to drawing women again after spending the past few months with Josh, Eric, and Sean.
Did you know that the Flash Gordon movie has been re-released on DVD? A DVD was released back in the day when the format was still relatively new and promptly went out of print. After that the price of the movie on eBay skyrocketed and people were known to pay over $100 for the privilege of having it in their collection. The film will look dated to anyone who was raised on CGI special-effects, but it’s a deliciously campy sci-fi classic that should be in every discerning fan’s DVD library. If you don’t buy the movie then at least pick up the soundtrack by Queen. You can get it on iTunes or Amazon and it’s kickass listening.
True story, George Lucas wanted to do a remake of Flash Gordon in the late 70s and only went on to do his own picture, Star Wars, after he discovered Dino de Laurentis had the rights to the movie. Ironically, it was probably the massive success of Star Wars that finally got the Flash Gordon film greenlighted. The film that could have been Star Wars was instead released in 1980 in time to cash in on the Star Wars mania that was sweeping the country.
There’s a new Wallpaper section for your perusal if you look at the links across the top. I put the link up Wednesday after posting the comic and then forgot to mention it on Friday. If you run at a resolution that isn’t included then just leave a comment or send me an e-mail and I’ll toss it up.
As always, be sure to vote for Insert Credits if you like what you see here. Visits to the comic have been increasing slowly but surely with each update which looks promising. I’ll see everyone back here on Wednesday.

Heh, looks like someone spend a lot of effort drawing the girl!

Yeah, like I said, I was out of practice. I hadn’t drawn a girl (other than the one in the Best Buy comic) since last November when I did all the character portraits. It took a few false starts yesterday before I got it right and updated from my six-months-ago art style.
And by the time I got the shading done on her in the third panel I was up against a posting deadline and tired, so I figured I’d just slip it through like this and let her be the center of attention in the third panel as intended.
