The Great Escape

First off I’d like to apologize for the late comic. It was a technical difficulty arising from a typo when I uploaded the comic. Anyone who has used Comicpress in the past will know what a difference a typo in the timestamp can make. The comics are usually scheduled to automatically load at 0:42 in the early morning, but in this case the wrong time was put in. I didn’t realize there was even a problem until I got back from the gym, checked my mail, and saw comments about the strip being late, so a big thank you to everyone who took the time to comment or e-mail me!

I’d like to once again welcome everyone who is coming in from the various ads I’ve taken out. The response to the comic so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and I thank everyone for their kind words. The few complaints that I’ve gotten came from people who just don’t like D&D for whatever reason. All I can say to them is you’re missing out on a good time with friends if you’ve never given the game a try. Tabletop gaming, when done correctly, is still the original and best social gaming in my opinion, beating out today’s MOGs any day of the week.

On a completely different subject, does anyone here remember The Real Ghostbusters from the late 80s/early 90s? I’ve had the complete series on my computer for awhile now and just got around to burning it to DVD so I could watch the episodes properly. I loved that cartoon as a kid, and it’s a huge trip down memory lane seeing all the episodes again. The show is full of deliciously geeky references that I had no hope of catching when I was 3-9 years old during the show’s original run, but the show (at least through the end of the second season) is still eminently watchable twenty years later just to try and catch all the clever references that the writers stuffed into the show. Now if only Sony would get off their butts and release the seasons in boxed sets. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

How to Make Webcomics, the collaboration between the guys behind the Webcomics Weekly podcast, came out this week.  Whether you’re a creator or just someone interested in webcomics, I’d recommend the book and podcast.  I’ll be adding a link to the right to Halfpixel for anyone who hasn’t heard of the podcast before and wants to check it out.  Also on the links this week is Gordian Algebra, another comic that’s just starting out.  It’s a mixture of webcomic satire, medical drama satire, and just general zaniness that I find quite funny.

There are voting links to the right. If you like what you see here then click over and voice your opinion! It’s still early in the comic’s life, but I have about 150 scripts written and ready to be drawn, and I have a larger storyline in my head that goes beyond even that. I also look at the schedule as a way to ensure that I keep working on my drawing skills every night and improving.

Thanks again to everyone who has been following the comic so far, and I’ll see you all on Monday, when Sean expresses his hatred of rent-a-cops in some legally questionable ways.
