Hearing about Gary Gygax passing on and writing these comics has gotten me to thinking about tabletop gaming again. I have a small confession to make here. Towards the end of college the core of the old gaming group I played with in high school had dispersed to parts unknown and I was concentrating on graduating and the electronic roleplaying dominatrix that is World of Warcraft. It had been years since the group had gotten together and I needed cash, so I sold my core rule books. I held on to a few specialty d20 game books and modules, the Wheel of Time book being the most prominent and interesting in that collection, but I didn’t think I’d have much use for the 3rd Edition core books, especially considering that 3.5 was supposed to hit shelves soon.
That lack of proper D&D books on my shelf led me to hit local used book store two days ago where I found a veritable treasure trove of old books. The store here is one of the largest used book shops in the state, but I guess most people are there for cheap paperbacks. I found an entire wall full of Dungeons and Dragons books ranging from the original game from back in the 70s to the most recent books. There were core books, campaigns, and even a bunch of d20 variant games that looked mildly interesting. (Unfortunately they didn’t have a copy of the rare Ghostbusters International game, that’s one I’ve had my eye on for years. I haven’t found that one despite years of trolling used book stores and combing Gencon every year, I might have to break down and get it on eBay.)
So I’m now the proud owner of the rulebooks for several editions of the game dating to back before I was even born. I have a soft spot for 3rd Edition rules just because that was the ruleset that my friends and I used when we were gaming back in the day, but it’s always interesting to go back and see where the game got its start. Right now I’m just brushing up on the game, but now that the bug has gotten me it likely won’t be long before I’m down at the local game store rolling the dice once again.
I’d like to once again thank everyone for the continued positive comments on these entries. If you like Insert Credits then be sure to tell a friend or two. We’re still really early in the comic’s life, but I think that people are enjoying reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it.

Well, I just found my way here from, hell, I don’t know. Cyanide and Happiness, I think. Anyway, one of my favorite comics is Order of the Stick, and precisely because of its D&D…ness. This looks promising, and might even wind up on my list of daily comics. Keep up the good work.

Not a slip, technical difficulties with the website. Comic should be up by 2:00, and my apologies.
