Time to Roll the Dice

Yesterday was a sad day for tabletop gamers around the world. Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of the original Dungeons & Dragons game, passed away at 69. Without him entire generations of gamers wouldn’t have wasted their adolescence in their parents basement fighting monsters and rescuing elf princess damsels in distress. So take a moment of silence for Gary as you sit at your computer reading this and think back on all the Mountain Dew fueled good times you never would have had if it wasn’t for his collaborative genius. I thought of tossing something up to mark his passing, but Penny Arcade has done a far better job than anyone else could ever hope to.

I’ve taken out a few advertisements around the web, so if you’re coming in from one of those welcome to Insert Credits!

I’m playing around with the theme a bit, so if you come here and the site appears to be broken you have my sincerest apologies.  I’d like to give props to Caroline of Comicology and the excellent comic Draw Write Play for coming up with a workable solution  for a three-column Comicpress theme.

Good start for your strip. If I might suggest adding a “first” button, though… that’ll be a lifesaver for new readers once you have more updates and more months of archives.

Small note, i’ve read about Gygax’s passing away here.. what were the odds… One of the best Bards ever…

Got the link from MU. I will come back every two weeks or so, I prefer reading in blocks to one a day.

Also, I know Ron. Played under him AND DMed bastards just like him.

It’s funny how this comic parallels some of what I endured playing D&D except I am a girl and instead of dealing with a bard I had to deal with a lizardfolk warrior who never really died. Aside from that bit of lamage…the game was awesome to play especially when I got to torture the lizardman with a fewfunny equations. Lizardman+ heavy beer = one drunken one night stand with a cave troll. Lizardman + gnome wizard = insane laughs (you had to be there and the gnome was an NPC I made) Lizardman + cursed armor = death by not being able to rest/pee…yeah being over encumbered for a while can fatigue you to the point where it will eventually and slowly kill ya.

Gary Gygax…I love you man, rest in peace.

Just saw the ad on the Book of Biff website and figured I’d drop by. This comic looks pretty neat. I think I’ll add it to my evergrowing list of webcomics. Seeing people like you who loved comics as a kid and are making their dream come true by making webcomic is inspiring me to try my hand at it here in the near future. So thanks for the chuckles and keep up the good work!

Hey, got the link from MU. I like the comic so far. I swear it’s like deja vu with some of these scenes to one of my older D&D groups. There was so much cheating and it really wasn’t any fun at all. Anyway good job and keep up the good work!
